The restaurant closed for a week for vacation. When the staff returned, owner Mitch Kauffman decided to suspend breakfast and lunch service because of a labor shortage, he says.

Urbano Cafe, which opened in Old East Dallas in 2009, plans to start breakfast and lunch back up in the fall. We’ll provide updates when we can.

In the meantime, the restaurant has been hosting private parties, baby showers and wedding luncheons. It’s still open for dinner, serving Italian favorites and offering neighbors the option to bring their own wine.

Two Doors Down opened late last year, offering coffee, pastries and grab-and-go salads and sandwiches.

Urbano Cafe is located in a building constructed in 1926 at 1410 N. Fitzhugh Ave.
