The wreck occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Gaston Avenue and Paulus Avenue, the USPS staff member at the site says.

Air bags deployed in the mail van, and the postal worker, who was able to exit the vehicle from the back doors, was taken to a hospital. All of the mail was removed from the van.

The front of the red sedan involved in the wreck was damaged, but the car would still drive, so someone moved it out of the road. The woman who drove the car when the wreck happened was not on scene when the Advocate arrived.

Dallas Fire-Rescue and the Dallas Police Department came to assist. A police officer helped direct traffic while the tow truck picked up the mail van.

Damage to the passenger side and rear of the mail van was visible once it was flipped on its wheels. There was also some fluid that had leaked from the van onto the road.

The officer had left and the mail van was picked up within about an hour of the wreck occurring.
